TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The window for Medicare enrollment is now open, but that may be a long, confusing process for some.

A group in west Alabama is helping people navigate the process and find what plan best suits them.

The Area Agency on Aging of West Alabama offers free counseling services for people who need help making their Medicare enrollment decisions.

Medicare plans change every year, so premiums and deductibles can be different from one year to the next.

Counselors with the Agency can talk to people about which Medicare health plans makes the most sense for them.

The counselors are not working for or affiliated with any insurance companies, instead that are part of the federally funded State Health Insurance and Assistance Program, or SHIP.
