UNION GROVE, Ala. ( WAFF ) - An 8-year-old is dead after an ATV accident in Union Grove that occurred on Sunday, authorities say.

According to the Marshall County Coroner’s Office, an 8-year-old child was thrown from an ATV during a single-vehicle crash on private property.

The incident happened Sunday evening on Rescue Road.

The child was taken to Huntsville Hospital and was later airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

Authorities say the child was pronounced dead on Monday.

Arab City Schools has released the following statement:

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Marshall County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate.
