ROCHESTER, Minn.-Channel One Regional Food Bank says Olmsted County food banks and food shelves may feel additional strain going into November if the government shutdown continues.
The Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families has said if the shutdown continues into November the state will have to freeze SNAP enrollment due to a lack in funding.
Channel One says Olmsted County receives $1.7 million a month in SNAP support, the county says it supports around 10,716 clients through the program.
If funding for those clients is up in the air and other clients who need the service can't enroll, Channel One says it could increase demand at its food shelf and the food shelves it supplies.
