A man with a history of domestic violence involving his girlfriend has been accused of fatally stabbing her at a residence in Stratford on Monday.
Stanley Mulvey, 67, faces charges of murder and interfering with a police officer, according to Capt. Jerry Pinto of the Stratford Police Department .
Pinto said Mulvey allegedly called emergency dispatchers around 7 p.m. and said he had just stabbed his girlfriend at his residence on Griffen Street and wanted to kill himself. He identified his girlfriend as 62-year-old Megan McShane, according to Pinto.
Officers rushed to the residence and allegedly found Mulvey lying on top of McShane, who was unresponsive on the kitchen floor, Pinto said. They were both covered in blood with a large, blood-covered kitchen knife nearby, Pinto said.
