The Manitoba Wildlife Federation (MWF) has launched legal action against the Government of Manitoba and Bloodvein First Nation, alleging that a blockade on a provincial highway is unlawfully preventing licensed hunters and anglers from accessing Crown land on the east side of Lake Winnipeg.

The application, filed with the Court of King’s Bench and set for hearing October 27, seeks a judicial review of the province’s regulatory decisions and an injunction to remove what the federation calls an “unlawful blockade” on Rice River Road.
