WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Bethany Lutheran Church, which has stood in Lindsborg for more since 1869, has been awarded a $500,000 grant from the National Fund for Sacred Places.
The National Fund for Sacred Places provides financial and technical assistance to congregations planning major preservation projects at historically significant houses of worship.
Thirty worshipping communities nationwide received grants from the National Fund totaling $8.7 million.
Bethany’s historic sanctuary will undergo a major restoration to ensure its continued strength. The project includes rebuilding a wall, replacing aging wooden beams with steel supports, installing tie rods and other structural improvements.
