When I was living in London 25 years ago and just starting my career as a journalist, I remember being glued to the screen one rainy evening in my small flat, watching fearless reporters in the most extraordinary (and frankly, dangerous) places on earth. I still remember the name of the programme: Unreported World .

Fast-forward, and life played one of its better tricks on me. Not only did I end up working for Channel 4 News, but somehow I found myself making nearly ten films for Unreported World. The programme that once felt galaxies away became the place where I told stories that mattered deeply to me – and, as it turns out, to millions of others.
