COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- One of the best high school basketball players in the country is staying in Ohio and will play for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State men's basketball's social media channels shared reports to confirm that five-star recruit Anthony Thompson, of Hudson, Ohio, has committed to play for the Buckeyes beginning next season. The small forward is rated as the seventh best prospect nationally in the 2026 class, according to 247 Sports.

Thompson is currently playing at Western Reserve Academy, which is roughly 15 miles north of Akron. Standing at six feet and eight inches, he is the only five-star recruit from the Buckeye state in his recruiting class.
