RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina Senate passed the map of the redrawn state congressional districts as part of a nationwide, Republican-led effort to help the GOP maintain control of Congress in 2026.
On Monday, the Senate Elections Committee approved a new congressional map released last week by legislative leaders. This was the first official step in a process expected to give North Carolina Republicans another seat in Congress.
Now that the Senate has passed it, the map will now go to the North Carolina House. The House Select Committee voted 10-7 in favor of the map on Tuesday, and the full house is expected to vote on proposal on Wednesday.
