Former Steelers coach Buddy Parker is one step closer to being enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Parker is one of 12 coaches to advance from a list of 15 nominees for the Hall of Fame Class of 2026 Coach Category.

Parker coached the Steelers for eight seasons, 1957-64, after stints with the Chicago Cardinals (1949) and Detroit Lions (1951-56). His record with the Steelers was 51-47-6, while he had a career coaching record of 104-75-9.

Hall of Fame bylaws stipulate that the Coach Blue-Ribbon Committee members vote for 12 individuals each at this stage of the selection process. Each committee person will cast an additional ballot later this month to reduce the list to nine semifinalists, with those results to be announced in early November.
