JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Providence Academy, a private Christian school in Johnson City, is facing two lawsuits, both of which stem from an alleged assault that occurred at a 2024 Super Bowl party off-campus.
At the center of both lawsuits is an alleged incident that took place at a private home on Feb. 11, 2024, where several Providence students had gathered to watch the Super Bowl.
The lawsuits were filed in U.S. District Court in Greeneville on behalf of two students allegedly involved in the incident that night, neither of whom currently attends Providence following disciplinary action.
Providence has filed multiple responses to one of the lawsuits, which was filed earlier in the year, and asked for the case to be thrown out. The more recent lawsuit was filed earlier this month.
