The body of an 11-year-old girl, the niece of Sanjay Roy, convicted in the rape and murder case at Kolkata’s well-known R.G. Kar Medical College, was found hanging inside a cupboard at her home on Monday.

On Tuesday, an angry mob attacked the girl’s father and stepmother in Kolkata’s Bhawanipore area.

According to the police, after the girl’s death, her father Bhola Singh and his second wife Pooja tried to flee from their house, but neighbours caught and assaulted them. The father was beaten with shoes, while the stepmother was dragged by her hair and thrashed.
