OWENSBORO, Ky. — The Glover Cary Bridge, known as the “Blue Bridge,” won’t reopen until Jan. 2026, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The bridge was originally scheduled to open this month.
The bridge, which links Owensboro and southern Indiana, closed in July for a 90-day repair to replace a 750-foot section of concrete-filled decking and fix bridge joints. KYTC said work in progressing on the project.
Last month, Spectrum News reported that supply chain issues caused KYTC to postpone the bridge’s reopening. KYTC District 2 said in a release it has worked with the contractor to make sure all the materials needed for the repairs have been ordered, delivered or sourced and Jan. 16, 2026 is the new reopening date.
