IOWA CITY, Iowa — Iowa City Police have arrested two individuals following an investigation into gunfire in September.

Dequan D. Mardis, 30, of Iowa City, has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, going armed with intent, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of reckless use of a firearm.

Lashelle S. Beard, 33, also of Iowa City, faces a charge of fifth-degree criminal mischief.

The Iowa City Police Department said it responded on September 21 to reports of shots fired at 3:30 a.m. on Shamrock Place. Officers said they found evidence of shots fired and property damage, but no injuries were reported.
