In what comes as another setback for the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, which has been facing significant internal issues primarily centered on seat-sharing disputes, and "friendly fights" between the allies in some constituencies, a prominent local Congress leader resigned, claiming that his district has been neglected.

Saran District Congress Committee president Bachchu Prasad Biru resigned from the post and primary membership of the party. He cited the constant discrimination faced by the Congress in the INDIA bloc and the neglect that his district has been facing as the reasons for his exit.
