A British barrister who has been campaigning for the release of Teesside death row grandmother Lindsay Sandiford, has stated that she should be released immediately upon her return to UK soil. Dr Felicity Gerry KC, who visited Sandiford in Bali in 2015, has been tirelessly advocating for the UK government's assistance in bringing her home .

Sandiford, 69, has avoided execution after spending 12 years in Bali's notorious Kerobokan prison for smuggling £1.6 million worth of cocaine into the country. Today, as it was reported that Sandiford, who previously lived in Redcar , would be repatriated back to the UK, Dr Gerry asserted that she had served her sentence and should be set free without delay.
