Australian doctors in Gaza say it could take decades to fully resolve the health impacts of Israel's war on the Palestinian enclave, but are hopeful a shaky ceasefire will allow crucial supplies to enter the strip.

Thienminh Dinh, an emergency physician from Brisbane who works with Doctors Without Borders, said while the war had driven up rates of malnutrition and amputations among Palestinians, the mental and emotional trauma stemming from the conflict was "intergenerational."

She said the charity's mental health teams had been encouraging young Palestinians to draw, to help them process what they've seen in the last two years.

"I've seen the drawings," she told AAP.

"There were six-year-olds who had drawn stick figures lying in blood."
