A closed down historic building in Glasgow has been promised funding of more than £300,000 for refurbishment.

There are hopes the A-listed Langside halls could reopen after eight years of being shut thanks to the financial boost.

Pollokshields Area Partnership and Langside Area Partnership have both decided to award £121,000 each to the southside property. A third area partnership, Southside Central, is to allocate about £73,000 according to council minutes. It is hoped the contributions will be match funded by Glasgow City Council and could reopen next autumn. It is understood the property could be run by a community organisation.

Councillors Zen Ghani, Soryia Siddique and Holly Bruce have welcomed the move.
