GAINESVILLE — UF athletic director Scott Stricklin once again has a decision to make on a football coach, an opportunity many wondered whether he’d receive.
Emboldened by a contract extension , assisted by a search firm and hardened and humbled by two failed hires, Stricklin aims to turn his third chance into a fourth national title for the Florida Gators.
“Goal’s pretty simple,” he said Monday, a day after UF fired Billy Napier. “We want to compete for championships, and not just compete but we want to win championships.
Now comes the hard part.
The job market features a highly attractive opening at Penn State, and is soon to be flooded with other ones. The list is sure to include Auburn and potentially Florida State, LSU and South Carolina.
