Residents in a quiet corner of East Transcona say their homes are literally shaking apart after Winnipeg Transit rerouted a major bus line through their small residential street this summer — a change they say has brought constant noise, cracked foundations and frustration.
Since June, Victoria Avenue East between Wayoata and Redonda streets has been reclassified as part of Transit’s new FX3 Primary Bus Route, a high-frequency corridor using long, heavy articulated buses meant to provide more consistent service. But residents along the two-block stretch say the decision has turned their neighbourhood into a thoroughfare for massive buses that rumble by every few minutes.
