El Paso Electric is expanding its footprint in East El Paso.
The company started in 1901 as the El Paso Electric Railway Company, initially focused on providing transportation via mule-drawn streetcars. By 1902, the mule-drawn streetcars were replaced with electric streetcars, and by 1925, the company's business focus shifted to producing and distributing electricity.
EPE provides electricity for roughly 465,000 customers across a 10,000-square-mile area stre
