WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Express Kitchen is closing its downtown Wichita location after nine years.

In a video posted on social media , owner Natasha Gandhi-Rue said the time has come for change, and she hopes another young, aspiring restaurateur will take over the space.

“It’s a great starting restaurant ‘cause it’s small, rent is more affordable than different parts of town,” Gandhi-Rue said.

When The Kitchen first arrived in downtown Wichita, Gandhi-Rue said the Union Station area looked much different.

“Union Station was pretty much an abandoned area. We didn’t have a parking lot or anything, and it’s just gorgeous now. So, we feel like we’ve made our mark here, and it’s time to move and reassess our priorities,” Gandhi-Rue said.
