The Sarnia Sting are chipping in $1.7 million for upgrades at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
In return, the Ontario Hockey League club will continue to call the day-to-day shots on food and beverage sale operations at the city’s flagship arena, and get 100 per cent of the commission from food and beverage sales.
The city still maintains approval rights on major renovations.
Sarnia city council on Monday unanimously accepted the offer, giving up the city’s 50 per cent commission stake in food and beverage sales.
“This is a win-win for us,” said Coun. Chrissy McRoberts.
Sarnia’s commission earned the city $90,000 in 2024, city treasurer Kristen McGill said.
