PHOENIX — A 49-year-old man has died after he was struck by a vehicle Monday evening in west Phoenix.

The collision occurred in the area of 51st Avenue and McDowell Road at 7:30 p.m. when a pedestrian, identified as Chad Bratcher, attempted to cross McDowell Road mid-block. A truck traveling westbound struck Bratcher.

Phoenix police said Bratcher died from his injuries. The truck's driver remained at the scene.

Police said impairment does not appear to be a factor in causing the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
