Michael Proctor , the former State Police investigator fired over his conduct in the Karen Read case, has dropped his appeal with a state panel to get his job back, records show.

“This notice confirms the withdrawal of my appeal in the above referenced matter,” said a notice with the state Civil Service Commission that Proctor signed over the weekend.

Proctor’s lawyer, Daniel J. Moynihan, said in a brief statement Monday that based “upon disclosures made available to our office on Friday, October 17, 2025, the Appeal of Michael Proctor was withdrawn today.” Moynihan did not elaborate.

In court papers filed Thursday in Norfolk Superior Court, where additional murder cases that Proctor investigated are pending, prosecutors said they are reviewing material from his personal cell phone
