FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) — Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman says his office has reached a settlement with LG&E and KU that will keep base energy rates locked in through 2028 while limiting upcoming rate hikes for residential customers.

The agreement, announced Monday, follows the utilities’ request to the Kentucky Public Service Commission earlier this year for rate increases to fund infrastructure improvements.

Monthly bill increases capped under $10
Under the settlement, LG&E and KU residential customers will see monthly bill increases of less than $10 — about $5 for electric service and $8 for gas service for LG&E customers, and about $9 for KU electric customers.
