A person died late Friday after a medical emergency at Center City Park, according to the Pearl Police Department.

Around 11:00 p.m. on Oct. 17, 2025, an officer on routine patrol noticed a vehicle backed into a parking space at the closed park. Inside, the officer found an adult who appeared to be sleeping and a toddler in the back seat.

When the officer tried to wake the adult, it became clear the person was in medical distress. The officer called for medical aid and began life-saving measures. Additional officers, Pearl Fire Department, and Pafford EMS continued CPR and other efforts for more than 40 minutes, police said.

The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary findings from the Rankin County Coroner’s Office indicate the death appears to be from natural causes.
