CITY HALL — Mayor Brandon Johnson is poised to again decline a raise next year — but almost every alderperson, plus the city clerk and treasurer, is in line for a pay bump.

Aldermanic and mayoral salary raises, as well as those for the city treasurer and clerk, are tied to inflation as determined by the Consumer Price Index. That means elected officials are set to receive around a 2.4 percent increase in 2026, according to Johnson’s budget recommendations introduced to City Council last week.

Forty-eight of 50 alderpeople plan to take a raise next year, per those budget documents. Alds. Byron Sigcho-Lopez (25th) and Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez (33rd) are the only two alderpeople who opted out. Their salaries will remain $142,776.
