NEW YORK (PIX11) -- New Yorkers looking to travel between Albany and New York City will soon have an additional option.
On Monday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that the MTA will expand the Metro-North line to add a round-trip train between Grand Central and Albany-Rensselaer Station.
The route would also include additional stops at Rhinecliff and Hudson.
The MTA announced the goal is to start with one daily round-trip between Albany and Grand Central in the Spring of 2026.
“Extending Metro-North’s safe, reliable service to Albany closes a critical gap in regional transit by restoring capacity and connecting New York City and Hudson Valley communities with the high-quality service our customers expect,” said Metro-North President Justin Vonashek.
