MONROE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Union County School leaders took action Tuesday to move forward with long-awaited bonuses, but the amount falls short of what district officials originally hoped to provide teachers.
Union County Public Schools leaders on the finance committee met Tuesday morning to decide how to still give teachers their anticipated pay bump.
“We always had a plan to come forward to you all with the recommendation,” Superintendent Dr. Andrew Houlihan said. “That was never questioned, but we wanted to wait a little bit longer until the uncertainty of the budget became less of a concern.”
