CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A toddler who was injured in a shooting during a fight over a parking spot at an apartment complex on Sunday night in east Charlotte is expected to survive.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said 39-year-old James Raeford shot at a van Sunday night and hit a 3-year-old in the back with a bullet. The police report said the child was in the van with his father.

Raeford appeared before a judge in his first court appearance on Tuesday, Oct. 21, and a judge granted him bond. Raeford was given a $500,000 secured bond and will have to wear an electronic ankle monitor and cannot have contact with the prosecuting witness.
