MADISON (WKOW) — Wisconsinites who rely on government assistance for food likely won't receive those benefits on time due to the shutdown of the federal government.

The Wisconsin FoodShare program is facing a funding crisis. Gov. Tony Evers said the program, which supports nearly 700,000 Wisconsinites, will run out of funding in 10 days if the shutdown continues.

A message on the State of Wisconsin ACCESS website reads, "Because of the federal government shutdown, November FoodShare benefits for current members will be delayed. We do not know when this will change. Visit the FoodShare: News for Members page at dhs.wi.gov/fsnews for more."

In a press release , Evers called on President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans to end the shutdown.
