TYLER, Texas — Volunteer fire departments across Texas have received approximately $164 million in grants through the the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program.
The funding will help departments purchase equipment and training. The Texas A&M Forest Service conducted the first funding Meeting for Fiscal Year 2026 on Oct. 14.
East Texas volunteer departments received over $28 million in funding through the program this fiscal year. Check out a breakdown below:
Anderson County
Tucker Volunteer Fire Department - $300,000 for water tender; $45,000 for slip-on unit
Westside Volunteer $300,000 for water tender; $45,000 for slip-on unit
Palestine Southside Volunteer Fire Department - $300,000 for water tender; $45,000 for slip-on unit
Neches Volunteer Fire Department - $300,000
