Kenvue, the owners of Tylenol, are pushing back on claims that acetaminophen—the chemical compound in their popular over-the-counter painkiller—may cause autism in children when used by pregnant mothers.

The company submitted a letter to the Food and Drug Administration urging them not to order a change on warning labels for the product, saying the autism claims are not backed by scientific evidence.

The request for warning labels to be changed was submitted to the FDA by the Informed Consent Action Network, one of the largest anti-vaccine coalitions in the United States. Del Bigtree, the CEO, worked on Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kenney Jr.’s presidential campaign.

As HHS Secretary, Kennedy now oversees the FDA.
