KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) — On Tuesday, the man accused of killing a Kansas City, Kansas, police officer saw little movement in his case as his new attorneys get up to speed.

31-year-old Dennis Mitchell III walked into a Wyandotte County courtroom wearing a gray-striped jumpsuit. He’s the man accused of killing KCK Police Officer Hunter Simoncic nearly two months ago.

Mitchell is charged with:

Capital murder of a law enforcement officer

Fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement by engaging in reckless driving

Theft by deception ($1,500 to $25,000)

Theft of property or services ($1,500 to $25,000)

Criminal possession of a weapon by a felon (adjudicated as a juvenile offender)
