CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Commuters were met with heavy backups along I-90 Tuesday morning as ODOT continues its long-term construction along the route.

The traffic jam was concentrated in Rocky River, just before the Hillard Boulevard exit.

Bianca Nahey just returned from a trip to Florida, only to find out about I-90’s condition. “I’m just like, ‘whoa’, when I came back, like holy crap,” she said.

The delays are caused in part by lane closures that began last August through the Ohio Department of Transportation’s $173 million renovation project.

The renovations will stretch from West Boulevard in Cleveland to Hilliard Boulevard in Rocky River.

The project is set to be completed by 2028.
