LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Shepherdsville police have announced the arrest of a man they claim assaulted a person and his dog.

Shepherdsville police said the alleged assault happened around 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 17. With a victim statement and surveillance video from a nearby business, their investigation showed David Craig, 39, allegedly got into an altercation with the victim while he was walking his dog. Police said the victim lost control of the leash during the assault, and Craig allegedly grabbed the leash and swung the small dog overhead several times before letting go, sending the dog into a nearby dumpster.

Police said after identifying Craig as a suspect, they executed an arrest warrant on Oct. 21 with the help of Louisville police.
