SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. —

A man is facing charges after police say he assaulted a small dog in Bullitt County.

The Shepherdsville Police Department said it was called to the 100 block of North Buckman on Oct. 18 about an alleged assault that happened the day before.

Police said surveillance video in the area captured 39-year-old David Craig assaulting the dog.

The victim told police they were walking their dog on a leash when an altercation happened between the victim and Craig. During the assault, police say Craig grabbed the dog's leash, swinging it several times over his head before letting it go, with the dog hitting a dumpster.

Craig was arrested on Tuesday. He is charged with fourth-degree assault, menacing, cruelty to animals, and torture of a dog.
