SHREVEPORT, La. -- Shreveport police detectives are asking for the public's help in locating a Shreveport woman accused of stealing money from a church.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Ebony Wilson, 51, for forgery.
The investigation began after a local Baptist church reported financial discrepancies. Detectives determined that three forged checks had been written and cashed, resulting in the loss of several thousand dollars.
Through coordination with a local bank, investigators confirmed that the checks were cashed by Wilson, police said.
"The Shreveport Police Department takes financial crimes seriously, especially those that target places of worship and charitable organizations within our community," Cpl. Chris Bordelon said.
Anyone with information on Wilson's whereabouts is
