DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Tensions continue to brew over the potential elimination of 28 positions with the Dane County Sheriff's Office.
Yogesh Chawla represents District 6 on the Dane County Board of Supervisors and is one of three supervisors supporting an amendment to eliminate the more than two dozen unfilled positions with the sheriff's office to combat the county's $31 million budget deficit.
"What we're trying to do is just try to make everything fair," Chawla said. " Every department was asked to make a 4% cut. The sheriff's department did not make a 4% cut, and so unfortunately, the county executive disproportionately cut the Human Services Department."
