A woman has died following a shooting in Brampton, and police are searching for a man described as "armed and dangerous." The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon at a plaza near Airport Road and Queen Street East. Peel police received a call about the shooting just before 2 p.m. When officers arrived, they found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Peel police Constable Mandeep Khatra held a news conference Tuesday night, stating that the suspect fled the scene with a one-year-old child in the back seat of his vehicle. An Amber Alert was issued shortly after 5 p.m. for the missing child. Khatra later confirmed that the child was found "safe and sound" and had been dropped off with family members.

Investigators believe the shooting and child abduction are related to an "intimate partner" situation. The suspect's vehicle was reportedly spotted in the Niagara-Fort Erie area. Residents in the Crystal Beach neighborhood were advised to shelter in place, ensuring their doors and windows were locked.
