Driver revealed that he and director Steven Soderbergh spent two years working on a movie that would have revived Ben Solo after The Rise of Skywalker 's ending . Soderbergh and Rebecca Blunt outlined the story and Scott Z. Burns wrote the script.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, vice president Carrie Beck, and chief creative officer Dave Filoni "loved the idea" , but the project was scrapped after being presented to Disney CEO Bob Iger and co-chairman Alan Bergman, who "didn't see how Ben Solo was alive."
