LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Kentucky State representative Beverly Burton has four more days to serve of her nine-day home incarceration sentence after she took an Alford plea, meaning she does not admit guilt but concedes that the prosecution has enough evidence to convict, as part of her second drunk driving case .
Burton was arrested in 2024 when officers responding to another call came upon Burton’s car, driving into the opposite lane and stopping before coming back to the right side of the road and stopping again.
Police said that they could smell alcohol on Burton’s breath when she got out of the car. Burton declined to take field sobriety tests or a breathalyzer and repeatedly tried to get back into her car.
