KEWANEE, Ill. (KWQC) - A Kewanee man was arrested on child sexual-abuse images charges Tuesday after a long-term investigation, police said.

Earlier this year, Peru police got a tip about possible criminal activity from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to a media release from the Kewanee Police Department.

After investigating, officials said, they learned the alleged crimes happened in Kewanee and sent the investigation to Kewanee Police.

Andre Gerts, 24, of Kewanee, was arrested after law enforcement officials searched his home.

Police said he was taken to the Henry County Jail on preliminary charges of possession of child sexual-abuse images and dissemination of child sexual-abuse images.
