SALT LAKE CITY — A vehicle fire on Interstate 80 in Salt Lake City delayed traffic while emergency crews worked to put the fire out on Tuesday.

The center lanes were blocked at 11 a.m. as crews worked, and the vehicle fire was seen in the left shoulder of the roadway heading eastbound said Heather Kelly with the KLS NewsRadio traffic center.

The vehicle caught fire approaching the southbound Interstate 15 and 600 South exit in downtown Salt Lake City.

At one point, traffic was backed up to the Interstate 215 West Belt.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Alexander said the vehicle was fully engulfed, but there were no injuries. The cause of the vehicle fire is unknown.
