BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners approved a budget amendment to form the Helene Recovery Office.

The office will be tasked with coordinating disaster recovery and long-term resilience projects related to Helene’s impacts.

The office will have five grant-funded positions, which include two fiscal analysts and three project managers.

Officials report the budget amendment also includes Helene-related projects with the following funds approved for each kind of repair:

Landslides - $10,296,428

Tower roads - $1,324,343

Owen Park - $1,807,912

Additional parks projects - $572,562
