WHITEMARSH — After starting the season with three losses, Plymouth Whitemarsh won 14 of its final 15 games. Eleven of those wins were decided by five or more goals.

Things weren’t going to be as easy in the district playoffs.

The 10th-seeded Colonials opened the District 1-3A playoffs with a tough 3-0 win over No. 23 Pennridge Tuesday afternoon at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.

“Today was a little bit of a grind for us,” PW coach Charise Halteman said. “I don’t think we played our best, but that’s sometimes playoff hockey. You just have to find ways to win and trust your teammates and trust the process. I think they did that today.”

Plymouth Whitemarsh advances to the second round and will visit No. 7 Downingtown West Wednesday.
