TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — As it gets colder, you’ll probably notice your energy bill go up as you warm your home.

For families in need of help, there’s the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP. The South Central Community Action Partnership helps connect people to it.

This program is paid for by federal funds, but the government shutdown is putting it at risk.

“We have some, limited funds right now, and it’s carry-over from last year, but to qualify for those funds the family would have to have a shut off notice from their main source of heat before we can assist with that,” Michelle Picklesimer, the Chief Financial Officer said.
