DES MOINES, Iowa —
There are dozens of recommendations from the Iowa DOGE task force, a 16-member group of business executives, elected officials and higher education leaders.
The responses to the final report released today by Gov. Kim Reynolds have been mixed.
The idea to tie teacher pay to student growth remains a hot topic.
"We should never be afraid of rewarding excellence. And that's what we would do," Gov. Kim Reynolds says. "The teachers would never see a decline in their salary."
Reynolds says there's a grant program doing this already. It incentivizes teachers who have gone the extra mile.
The Iowa State Education Association, the largest public teachers' union, disagrees with the concept.
