PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — President Donald Trump still thinks Portland is “on fire.”
During a Diwali celebration at the White House on Tuesday, reporters asked the president whether he “feels unfettered” about deploying the National Guard to certain cities after the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that he could send troops to Portland.
“Well, I guess so,” he said in response.
“I can send the National Guard if I see problems,” Trump said. “I looked at Portland over the weekend, the place is burning down, just burning down… Maybe that influenced the court, but you look at a place like Portland. It's just — it's ridiculous when they say there's no problem. The place — it was on fire over the weekend.” • People gather along a waterfront park during a "No Kings" protest in Portland, Ore
